I am a fellow translator from Italian to English and experienced Stefanie's work by watching a program on Netflix, Zerocalcare, for which she had translated the English dubbed dialogues. I had recently translated the scripts of a show also set in Rome so had thought a lot about the difficulties of Roman slang and dialogue so I paid special attention to translation choices made, toggling between the English and Italian dubbing and admiring the choices and solutions to very knotty problems (the show is all obscure regional slang and endless wordplay!). By chance, a few weeks later, I met Stefanie in person and was talking about the challenges of the script job and found out that she was the dubbing translator whose work I had admired so recently! Dubbing translators aren't credited on the shows (which is a shame). So just luck had it that I could compliment her myself on her creative, well-considered solutions that created natural-sounding English dialogue for a show with huge translation challenges every sentence. I would have thought it an impossible undertaking but Stefanie achieved it with aplomb!
